SAHAJA YOGA – A Unique Discovery & Gift To Mankind

Mister Andres is from Colombia. For the viewers who cannot understand Hindi, I would just like to introduce the guest in the studio today, form the Sahaja yoga fraternity, from the background of Sahaja yoga, Anindita Basu from Colombia and her husband Andres.

But why I mention the incident before meeting Shri Mataji is because when the first time I saw her, my soul could recognize her, even if my consciousness was not aware of it.

-Because you were a child at the time, a 7 years old child does not know much more about it.

She gave us a kiss. Then she said, all of you sit down here. Then she looked at me and she said … okay, no problem, good you came, good to see you. I felt I knew her, something inside me was telling I knew her. This is how my journey started in Sahaja yoga.

-It is, I think, you were 7 years.

-Andres, coming down to you. As Anindita told, she got realization, she felt there was something special in Shri Mataji when she met her. What was the incident which made you turn to Sahaja yoga? What was the cause for which you came to Sahaja yoga?

Andres: I think that we all are seeking something. I think that even if you’re young and you try to figure out what makes sense in your life, what is important about it, and the young generations are trying to look for it every time. Sometimes they get misguided, sometimes they come into nonsensical things, like drugs, things like that. But still, you’re thirsty, you want more, you want to find out what makes sense to be here. Somehow, I found it here in the practice of Sahaja yoga. I was really interested because far in Colombia, South America, it’s difficult to reach all the closeness that you have in the time with Shri Mataji. The only way that we have to really understand the teachings was through the experience, living with the Sahaja yogis that were already settled down.

-You came down in 1994, you just mentioned that you came down in 1994. Talking about the different culture, when we talk about India, in India, the spirituality, religion, worshiping are very common practice. It’s very common thing. Generally, from childhood we are told that we have to do this, this, this. Accepting Sahaja yoga, how difficult was it for you? How difficult was it for you to even step into that zone, coming out from a completely different background, different cultural background? How difficult was it?

Andres: In my case it was surprisingly very easy. Because we were young, we wanted to have fun and we were so lucky because we found such great people, such great friends inside of Sahaj that showed us we can have fun but at the same time, you can have something that will nourish you, that will give you actually the real source of joy. We were enjoying a lot and it was so easy for us, so in the mood, to come to that point that you realize that happiness is only through the experience that comes from the inside.

-That became the cause for establishing yourself in Sahaja yoga.

-What was the difference which you realized, Anindita, when you saw yourself and the other children along with you, who were not into Sahaja yoga?

Anindita: I actually realized it when I was a teenager that there’s a difference… You don’t really think about anything in life, you just enjoy… I was always a topper in the school…but I was very naught, as I mentioned before also to you personally…. Somehow, as my mum is a musician…have give me a lot of values in life. He never told me …

I never heard this in my whole family. They always used to tell me, you should be self-sufficient…but when it was combined with Sahaja yoga meditation, I would specially say Sahaja yoga meditation…Then I started realizing the difference between a human being a realized soul…

If you don’t talk with the child openly, you will not feel the pain of the child…Yoga is connection. I have seen only Sahaja yoga gives you connection with the Divine and with yourself. There is no other yoga which could give you real connection with the divine…

What I’m trying to say is I had a very nice infancy…I was a bright student, I never used to study so hard let’s say… When I was a teenager, I was in university, I was trying to understand Sahaja yoga in a mental way also… Physically you’re seeing her, you can feel that presence, you can feel vibrations, you can feel the joy among the people, people are so simple-hearted…When you become a teenager and you see your friends growing up with you and you see them so difficult people, so complicated…You realize that actually people from childhood have been bombarding with thoughts and ideas about life which they had with their parents…We’ll see what happens because I never felt that pressure…I was a very straightforward person from the beginning…The first time I realized that she’s Adi Shakti was in 2000 when I really got and this realization came to my mind. Then my actual meditation started…Sahaja yoga is very beautiful because you have so much joy, you have so much collectivity, you can go from here and there and enjoy…I actually feel for my process of evolution, I started understanding Sahaja yoga inside me, when I was out of India. When I went out of India, then I actually realized how big and how powerful and the vision of divine started coming to me slowly and that’s how I think the progress came.

-Andres, when you came into Sahaja yoga, it was 1994 year, what was your life this time? What change did you feel after coming into Sahaja yoga in your routine life? We are focusing that if anything which is acting in you that you say about self-realization, there have been many guests in this studio from Sahaja yoga. They talk about realization, they talk about self-realization, they talk about Kundalini awakening but for a common man, these are very big words. You say that Sahaja yoga is very easy but when a person who is not into Sahaja yoga hears to these words, he feels that it is too big. They do not know self-realization, they do not know anything about Kundalini awakening, they do not know even about meditation. The interviews that I have conducted earlier, they say that they meditate. How do they meditate? Overall, what is the impact which you feel reflects in your routine life after coming into Sahaja yoga? That is the most important thing.

Andres: I feel that is somehow the possibility to have that unity inside of yourself. When you are young, you have different lives. You are with your parents, you are very nice. You are with your friends, you are very cool. You are with your teachers, you are very disciplined. Like that you are trying to pretend something that you actually are not. When you have that division inside of yourself, it’s so difficult to listen to all those voices at the same time. And sometimes you really make a mess with that. In my case what I felt is that it was something so interesting that can unite all these parts of my personality in something that is actually way better. With all this logic and understanding that we have in western especially, we think about everything too much. But what I was wondering to me is that Sahaja yoga is so logical at the same time. It’s not only to accept the things just because someone says. It’s something
that you can actually feel. For me, that was something really important that allows me to experiment a difference in my daily life because when you are able to understand yourself, to listen to your self, whatever you do, every day is going to be enlightened somehow. So you can go tot the teachers, be yourself but in a better version. You are with your parents, you are the same person. You don’t have to hide, you don’t have to pretend. You are as natural as you are but with better values. When you are with your friends, you are a normal person but the thing is that they start to realize that there is something different, something special about the people who practice Sahaja yoga. And it’s that authenticity, that reality that people always try to find out.

Anindita: …it’s very unique marriage in Sahaja yoga because actually I feel have become much more stronger, much more sure about what I am…It was a very unique thing to see and I felt Andres has helped me so much more to believe in myself, what I am and it was only possible because it’s a Sahaj marriage because when you marry outside, of course I respect every kind of marriages but as we’re talking about this I would like to mention I’ve seen my friends, I’ve seen many relatives, they marry because of, especially in India they marry because of money or ego things, like I like this person… but anyways, they marry and they have fights and they don’t understand why they marry… you married and you have kind and this and that. But I never wanted to marry like that. From childhood I believed that marriage should not be a burden in your life, it should be an instrument to make you more free. And that’s what I feel. I feel after Sahaja marriages, it is only possible by god… if you have vibrations, if you are connected with yourself, if you’re connected with your being, and with Divine, then only you can choose the best partner for you. And if the divine herself is giving you, that’s even more blissful. In my case, it was given directly by Shri Mataji, which is a huge blessing in my life. I just completely changed my life, it enriches me so much, my whole family, even my mother in law, she’s so special… It’s a big blessing for me. Andres has uplifted my personality even more, he supports me fully, full time supporter. … What I would like to say is that Sahaj marriage makes you free from inside and it makes you more a playful, divine instrument. It’s not gender burden, you don’t live on others’ expectations, you don’t live under others’ conditioning… He always unites it, Andres always unites. He has another personality, I have another personality and when it merges, it becomes another flower for the life. So it’s very beautiful … if it’s possible for Sahaj yogis, they should go for it…Sahaja yoga is not a concept. It’s a reality in life which you have to follow every day of life…If you’re a Sahaja yogi, you will always solve as Shri Mataji would solve it. You’ll go into meditation, you will become and you will always know there’s a divine planning after this. So you become very peaceful inside. changes is very automatic of course and I think when you grow in that Sahaj culture, it’s not Indian culture, not western culture. It’s a Sahaj culture which is a culture of the spirit…That color will give fragrance to the life. I believe in unity, I believe her soul is very important, I believe her life soul on earth is very important…because that gives a special touch to the life.

-Sahaja yoga, a unique discovery and gift to mankind. It is complete in itself, nothing is needed to be explained or told after this. This interview I hope will be enjoyed by all. It gives meaning to ourselves, it gives the destination for which we are in this human form…You have accepted Sahaja yoga, and the beauty of Sahaja yoga which you have explained to the viewers sitting across. I feel that everyone will give a chance for themselves to come and know what is the purpose of life, who they are. The biggest question, the biggest mystery of this human form.
